The Opportunity
Brightforge Talent is partnering with a leading organisation providing critical data services, seeking a dedicated Network Operations Analyst to join their global support team based in Southbank. This role is essential for maintaining the stability and performance of their extensive production network infrastructure on a 24x7 basis.
You will be responsible for proactive monitoring and routines to prevent service impacts, as well as reactive troubleshooting to restore services quickly when issues arise. This position involves interaction with customers and internal Operations and Engineering teams, playing a key part in handling service requests and resolving connectivity issues effectively within a global network environment.
Responsibilities
Incident Management: Proactively monitor network health, perform checkouts to avoid service outages, and troubleshoot/isolate faults to restore service promptly when incidents occur.
Problem Management: Contribute to developing solutions based on incident analysis, including creating root cause flow charts and troubleshooting procedures to streamline fault isolation.
Operational Readiness: Support the pre-production deployment of new network services by ensuring monitoring tools are updated, proactive routines are in place, and operational staff understand the service and recovery procedures.
Change Management: Coordinate network changes through relevant approval processes (e.g., CAB), implement assigned operational tasks, and support changes implemented by Network Engineering.
Service Requests & Maintenance: Execute requests for network analysis or support, coordinate proactive maintenance activities, and potentially represent Network Operations in initiatives like vendor reviews or capacity management.
Process Improvement: Take ownership of specific tasks assigned by management to improve operational support related to technologies, processes, tools, or services.
Perform real-time monitoring for new events and initiate incident management processes.
Conduct routine network analysis at various levels.
Coordinate activities with vendors and potentially remote/local hands-on support.
Interact effectively with advanced-level engineering support teams.
Develop and propose solutions or improvements for the operational knowledge base.
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. (Alternatively, 3+ years of relevant experience may be considered).
Solid knowledge of routing protocols and concepts (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
Good understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, Layer 2 switching, and Layer 3 routing.
Superior customer service skills, including excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Proven ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment (essential).
Solid understanding of multicast concepts and troubleshooting techniques.
Working knowledge of network management and monitoring tools.
JNCIA, CCNA certification, or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
Experience within the financial services industry is advantageous but not essential.
Must be willing and able to participate in weekend and off-hours support rotations as required.
