The Opportunity

As a leader in renewable energy and working towards a sustainable future, they are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their Data and Analytics team in Newmarket, Auckland.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of solutions within a modern Data Platform. Leveraging your technical engineering background and strong communication skills, you will help build the foundations of the organisation's data capabilities and deliver bespoke data products to business users.
Key Accountabilities:
Build, test, deploy, and monitor robust data pipelines using the established Data Platform technology stack and processes.
Confidently develop complex data transformations from multiple sources while maintaining data history through Change Data Capture (CDC) techniques.
Collaborate effectively within cross-functional delivery squads, working closely with Business Analysts, Analytics Engineers, and Solution Architects.
Liaise with data source owners and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the business to understand data assets, enabling them to be leveraged effectively within the Data Platform.
Provide mentoring and guidance to junior members within the Delivery Squads.
Challenge the status quo; bring your technical expertise and curiosity to drive continuous improvement in data engineering practices and solutions.
We are looking for:
Tertiary or similar qualification in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems).
At least two years of experience working in a commercial technology environment.
A minimum of one year of specific experience within the Data Engineering domain.
Proven hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Microsoft Azure), Databricks, SQL, and PySpark.
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform (or similar technologies) would be advantageous.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
A proactive approach and a drive for continuous improvement.
